Understanding the Investment: What Does a Luxury Pet Photoshoot Cost and Include in London?
If you’ve already read my guide on what I mean by luxury, you’ll know that for me, luxury isn’t about excess.
It’s time, intention, care, and craft.
But at some point, every thoughtful dog guardian reaches the same practical question:
“How much does it cost?”
And that’s a completely fair thing to ask.
Especially in a city like London, where you’re used to weighing up investments carefully. Whether that’s your home, your time, or the experiences you choose to prioritise.
This guide will clearly outline where your investment goes. So you can judge whether the value aligns with what matters to you.
Because clarity removes hesitation far better than persuasion ever could.
Why don’t you just list one flat price?
It would certainly be simpler.
But a bespoke experience doesn’t fit neatly into a single fixed number. And more importantly, most clients wouldn’t want it to.
Some people come to me wanting one beautifully framed statement piece above the fireplace in a Victorian terrace. Others are designing a full staircase gallery wall in a modern London townhouse. Some choose heirloom print boxes. Others select digital files.
Your dog is unique. Your home is unique. Your reasons are unique.
So instead of one bundled package, I offer:
A session fee
Then the artwork and collections are chosen afterwards.
This way, you pay only for artwork that fits your style and home, ensuring your investment matches your priorities and preferences.
Flexibility and transparency can absolutely coexist.
If you’d like to explore the structure in more detail, you can view the full pricing details in my investment guide. But first, it helps to understand what sits behind those numbers.
What am I actually paying for?
This is one of the most important questions.
Because you’re not investing in “an hour of photography”.
The session itself is only one part of the process.
Your investment covers:
Time before the shoot
Planning locations across London and Surrey. Considering light, season and environment. Conversations about your dog’s temperament so the experience feels positive from the start.
Training-led handling and advice on the session.
I pair photography with positive, reward-based training principles for dogs. I create a calm, playful experience tailored to each dog's needs - never rushing nervous dogs or forcing energetic ones into unnatural stillness. My approach ensures comfort and captures authentic moments that showcase dogs at their best.
The session itself
Which isn’t timed to the minute. We move at your dog’s pace.
Editing and artwork preparation
Careful image selection. Individual refinement of each chosen photograph. Preparing files specifically for museum-quality printing.
Artwork sourcing
Professional labs. Archival materials. Pieces designed to last decades, not just a few years.
Viewing and design support
Helping you visualise how artwork will look in your home - whether that’s a calm hallway in Richmond or a bright open-plan space in Clapham - without pressure.
Ultimately, you’re investing in time, expertise, and craftsmanship. All tailored for an experience that’s as special as your dog.
Not just a photoshoot.
Why is luxury pet photography positioned differently from some other options?
This isn’t about better or worse.
It’s about the approach.
There are photographers who work at a higher volume, delivering large galleries of images taken for social media. That works beautifully for many people.
My approach is intentionally different: I prioritise depth over volume, creating a truly individualised and attentive experience for every client and pet.
I photograph a limited number of clients so I can give each dog patience and intention. Sessions aren’t rushed. We pause when we need to. If a dog needs space, we give it.
I individually refine each image for finished artwork you’ll treasure - not just collections of files to be forgotten about on a USB in a drawer, but lasting pieces for your home.
I design for homes that reflect your taste, architecture, and life. Not just screens. Though each of my wall art and prints includes the corresponding social media-sized digital file when purchased, so you won’t miss out on seeing your new favourite phone wallpaper.
This way of working is slower. More considered. More hands-on.
And that naturally places it in a different category from high-turnover photography.
If you’re comparing options, the more helpful question isn’t “Why is this more?”
It’s “What kind of experience feels right for me - and for my dog?”
What does a typical client actually spend?
This is the question most people hesitate to ask, so I’ll answer it openly.
The session fee is:
£149 for outdoor sessions
£99 for studio sessions
Each includes a complimentary 12x10" fine art print.
That print isn’t a token extra. It reflects how I photograph: for walls, not screens. I want you to leave with something tangible.
After the session, artwork and digital files are purchased separately.
There is no minimum spend.
However, most clients invest around £800 in total. Some clients choose a single statement piece and invest closer to £600. Others design larger wall collections that exceed £1,500.
There’s no pressure or surprise costs. Your selections reflect what matters to you, not upselling.
You choose what you love, with no surprise extras.
And often, what clients choose surprises them in the best way. Just last month, a client told me she hadn’t realised how much she needed the portrait on her hallway wall until she walked past it on a difficult day.
That’s hard to measure beforehand.
If you’d like to explore exact product pricing, you can find the full pricing details on my investment guide.
The goal is clarity, never surprise.
What’s included in the session fee?
Your session fee includes:
Pre-session planning and guidance
Location advice across London and Surrey
The photography session itself
A bag of treats from Waita Pets
Careful hand-editing of your gallery
A private viewing appointment
A complimentary 12x10" fine art print
Artwork, collections and digital files are purchased separately.
This structure keeps everything intentional. You only pay for what you want.
If you’d like to understand how the process flows from enquiry to finished artwork, I’ve explained that separately in my guide on how booking works.
Will I feel pressured to spend more?
No.
And I say that simply because pressure doesn’t belong in something this personal.
Your viewing session is calm and collaborative. We look through your images together. If you’d like help imagining artwork for your home, I can guide you with some magic software that lets you see wall art and frames on your actual walls!
But you are always in control.
There are no countdown timers. No “today only” incentives. No awkward silence if you choose something modest.
My role is to help you see what’s possible, not to steer your budget.
Is this irresponsible to spend money on?
This is the quiet question.
Especially when you’re practical. Sensible. Used to balancing priorities in a city such as London.
Here’s my honest answer.
Only you can decide what aligns with your values.
But meaningful artwork of someone you love - someone whose life is beautifully short - isn’t frivolous.
We all choose to invest in what reflects who we are.
Some people prioritise travel. Some invest in their homes. Some choose experiences.
Many of my clients choose to preserve this chapter of their dog’s life in a way that will still matter in ten or fifteen years.
And I say this not just as a photographer, but as someone whose own office walls are covered in portraits. Other people’s dogs. My own dog. Framed moments that still make me pause between emails.
I believe deeply in what this work does.
Not because it’s decorative.
But because our dogs shape so much of who we are, and devote their lives to our happiness.
Sometimes you don’t even realise how much it matters until you’re walking past it on an ordinary Tuesday - or on a difficult day - and it anchors you for a second.
That’s not indulgence. That’s choosing work that enriches your life beyond the everyday.
It’s intention.
And if it feels aligned, it’s simply a choice. Not something to justify.
A final thought on investment
When you strip away the numbers, what remains is structure.
A session fee that covers the creative process.
Artwork chosen afterwards, based on what genuinely suits your home and your heart.
No minimum spend. No hidden pressure. No mystery.
If you’ve already read about what I mean by luxury, this is the practical companion to that philosophy.
And if you’re at the stage of considering your own session in London or Surrey, you can explore the full pricing details - or simply reach out for a conversation.
Sometimes the most reassuring thing isn’t a price list.
It’s understanding how it all fits together.
